The Round Table Discussion was held on November 26, 2025, at the KSMU Library, Mayakovsky Street, 85, Kursk, Russia, as part of the International Scientific–Practical Conference “Traumatology and Orthopedics: Integration of Science and Practice”, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of KSMU and the 55th anniversary of the Department of Traumatology and Orthopedics.
The event was officially opened by Prof. Dubrovin G.M.– Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences, and Head of the Department of Traumatology and Orthopedics.
In his speech, Prof. Dubrovin emphasized the importance of international cooperation in medical science and encouraged students to actively engage in global academic activities. He highlighted that platforms like this round table not only shape the future of orthopedic innovation but also inspire young professionals to pursue excellence, expand their perspectives, and contribute meaningfully to advancing patient care worldwide.

The round table, titled “FORESIGHT AND CONSTRUCTIVE IDEAS FOR INNOVATION IN PATIENT CARE IN TRAUMA AND ORTHOPEDIC HOSPITALS IN DIFFERENT COUNTRIES”, brought together international representatives to exchange views on modern challenges and forward-looking strategies in trauma and orthopedic care.
The discussion was moderated by Associate Professor Rajkumar jDensingh Samuel Raj, PhD, Department of Traumatology and Orthopedics, KSMU.
Country Representatives:
Sri Lanka – Snega Kanthiban: Focused on improving early intervention, strengthening rural orthopedic access, and integrating traditional rehabilitation with modern methods.
Malaysia – Divyasini Anbalagan: Presented strategies to enhance patient flow, streamline multidisciplinary communication, and incorporate AI in trauma triage.
Namibia – Christopher Georgio van Wyk: Highlighted resource limitations, the need for mobile trauma services, and the importance of international cooperation.
India – Selvakumarasamy Jayabharathi: Discussed advancements in affordable implants and collaboration models to elevate orthopedic outcomes.
Maldives – Maaish Mohamed Ahmed: Addressed challenges of geographically dispersed islands and the importance of strengthening trauma response and evacuation systems.
Nigeria – Tioluwanimi Akinfemi Akin-Owoyemi: Spoke on the trauma burden, accident prevention strategies, and community-based rehabilitation efforts.
Brazil – Guilherme Sobreira Costa Rocha: Emphasized digital postoperative monitoring, innovative surgical techniques, and patient-centered recovery pathways.
South Africa – Nolwazi Octavia Fortunate Lukhele: Highlighted regional disparities in trauma care and the importance of frontline responder training.
United States of America – Pretaa Kantha Rau: Presented future-focused developments including AI-assisted decision-making, virtual rehabilitation programs, and precision orthopedic interventions.
The round table enabled a rich exchange of experiences and innovative ideas from nine countries, strengthening international academic dialogue and providing new perspectives for the development of trauma and orthopedic care worldwide.
KSMU reinforces its commitment to advancing global healthcare, fostering leadership, and shaping a new generation of medical innovators.
