Today our professor, Khuraseva Anna Borisovna asked us if we saw the statue located on the street opposite to our Obstetrics and Gynecology Department ICE , and if we know who he is. We replied that we did saw the statue on daily basis because it’s located at Lenin Street and it is our route to classes, however do not know whose the statue is about.

Then we pay a visit to the statue and Professor Khuraseva Anna Borisovna introduced us to this very famous Soviet Russian composer, " Georgy Vasilyevich Sviridov ". His music was familiar to us but we have no idea that we have crossed path with an extraordinary composer of “snowstorm” right here in the city where we are studying. What a wonderful fact to know that this great composer was born in Kursk in a town called Fatezh.

Professor asked us further if we know any Russian poet, and the first name crossed our mind was Alexander Pushkin. Another interesting information we gained was that “snowstorm” was composed based on the poem written by Alexander Pushkin.

Today, we indeed got to know our beloved city of Kursk better.
