On April 09, 2026, the 1st year students of the International Medical Institute studying History of Russia visited an exhibition in the library of KSMU dedicated to the 190^th birthday anniversary of an outstanding scientist, physician and innovator N.V. Sklifosovsky.

From the lecture conducted by Associate Professor of the Department of Philosophy Zh.G. Simonova the students learnt about the invaluable contribution of Nikolai Vasilyevich to the development of Russian surgery.

The first Russian propagandist and practitioner of asepsis, founder of military field surgery, creator of the "Russian lock", author of numerous scientific works, editor of the journals "Chronicles of Russian Surgery" and "Russian Surgical Archive", initiator of the establishment of "Special courses for the education of scientific midwives" - this is not the whole list of achievements of the distinguished professor. N.V. Sklifosovsky.

The students were astonished to discover that despite the hardships of his fate: a difficult childhood, the death of his first wife, the death of children, N.V. Sklifosovsky remained incredibly strong in spirit, devoted to his profession and found happiness in serving people. For students taking their first steps in medicine, N.V. Sklifosovsky's personality and achievements have become a source of inspiration and additional motivation to master their future profession.
