On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Rasul Gamzatov, the KSMU library prepared an exhibition for foreign students dedicated to the life and work of an outstanding poet.
Rasul Gamzatovich Gamzatov – an Avar Soviet poet, prose writer, publicist, Soviet and Russian public and political figure, translator.
His famous poem «Cranes», performed canonically by Mark Bernes, which many generations of Russia know and remember. «Cranes» wase written on the 20th anniversary of the victory in the war in Hiroshima, where the poet took part in mourning events.
The poet in his memoirs about his work noted that he owed to Moscow, Russian literature, friends and teachers. In his works, he drew attention to the veneration of the memory of ancestors, the great role of father and mother, the protection of women.
